Jazz is among America’s greatest cultural achievements. The Blu Note Jazz Band combines classical tradition with contemporary style to create the highest quality jazz experience. Our musicians have performed and studied with the great legends of jazz to include: Dave Brubeck, Wayne Shorter and Joe Sample. In addition, performing on some of the world’s most famous jazz stages such as the Monterey Jazz Festival, Jazz Bakery and House of Blues on the Sunset Strip. Blu Note Jazz Band artists can also be found in the Academy Award winning film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
Function of a Jazz Band
The genre diversity of Jazz makes it the ideal sound for many functions. Ballads and softer bossas are principle for the dinner portion of the evening. As the event progresses swing and straight-ahead bebop can provide the energy your guests desire. The Saxophone is the voice of the ensemble. It produces the melody and various improvisations. The piano and guitar are the chordal instruments that give the group its fullness of sound. The upright bass provides the flooring for the song to move. And the percussion is engine that drives the song and compels you to tap your feet. The Blu Note Jazz Band delivers a classic sound that is sure to be the capstone to your event.
All of our events are interactive and specially customized to fit our client’s vision. This includes instrumentation, song requests, and style. A variety of formats are available including: Soloist, Duo, Trio, Quartet, and Quintet with vocals.
